Jim Long Principal & Co-founder

Over the past twenty seven years, Jim Long has held a senior management level position in three health care industries including pharmaceutical, home health care, specialty pharmacy distribution and services, for companies ranging in size from startups, to those in the Fortune 75.

Prior to Co-founding BioSolutia

  • Vice President, Specialty Pharmacy for Caremark
  • Vice President, Specialty Pharmacy, for AdvancePCS, prior to its acquisition by Caremark
  • President, American Medical Distributors (now AmerisourceBergen)
  • Vice President, Specialty Pharmacy, for Chronimed (now Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy)
  • Vice President, Sales, for Olsten Health Services (now Gentiva Health Services)

Accordingly, he is considered one of the few nationally recognized experts on specialty pharmaceutical channel development, distribution and specialty services, particularly for narrow niche biotechnology and biological orphan and ultra-orphan specialty medications.

Dan Desmarais Principal & Co-founder

Dan Desmarais is a highly regarded managed care innovator and strategist with over twenty-five years of experience in the field. His experience includes a broad range of positions and assignments in health care settings.

Prior to Co-founding BioSolutia

  • Equity partner at TheraCom, a noted specialty pharmacy and biotech service company
    • • Led the company’s managed care relationships helping fuel its aggressive growth and ultimate acquisition by AdvancePCS, a Fortune 75 PBM, which was in turn acquired by Caremark
    • • At Caremark, Mr. Desmarais served as Vice President, Strategic Accounts
  • Managed one of New England’s largest staff-model ambulatory care pharmacies
  • Chairman and participant in Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) committees
  • Senior executive in one of the premier HMOs in the country
    • • Chaired the plan’s Finance Committee and helped lead its overall medical cost containment strategies
  • Senior executive in the nation’s largest single specialty physician practice management company focusing on high-technology reproductive services (IVF)

Murray Mease, PhDVice President, Business Development

Murray Mease has been a bold innovator over his 25 years of healthcare experience. Dr. Mease has been a pioneer in developing clinical, distribution, and administrative models that have created new benchmarks in health care delivery that have benefitted millions of patients and their families.

Prior to Joining BioSolutia

  • Co-founded CareCentrix, the nation’s only successful national ancillary care benefit management organization
    • • Chief architect in the design and implementation of the new venture
    • • Later served as the senior executive of CareCentrix
    • • Developed a number of innovative programs
  • Designed and built a national distribution center for Critical Care America in Memphis, Tennessee
  • Founding leader of TeamCare, a home infusion pioneer in home cancer care serving the District of Columbia metropolitan region

Education

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy
    • • Conducted his thesis research in oncology at the Johns Hopkins Cancer Center in Baltimore, Maryland
    • • Earned a prestigious research fellowship at the National Cancer Institute

 


Nick Black Vice President, Implementation & Operations

Nick Black has seventeen years experience working in the pharmacy sector for Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBM) and Specialty Pharmacies, in both the start-up phase and with mature Fortune 100 companies.

Prior to Joining BioSolutia

  • Seven years at Express Scripts’s Specialty Pharmacy CuraScript
    • • Managed the Pharma Contracting and Implementation Departments, either directly implementing or providing oversight to the contracting and launch of over 100 individual specialty drug programs
    • • Director of Pharma Account Management responsible for client relations of several large pharma and biotech pharmaceutical manufacturers
  • Worked in a consultative role for several PBM companies that specialized in catering to Hospice, 340B and Workers Compensation markets
  • Worked for UnitedHealth Care in one of their regional health plan as Pharmacy Manager
  • Career in healthcare began by managing the build-out of a start-up PBM

Jessica Torres Senior Director, Reimbursement Services

Jessica Torres has over ten years experience solid specialty pharmacy expertise and a demonstrated record of success while working for CuraScript, a national specialty pharmacy, a division of Express Scripts, Inc.

Prior to Joining BioSolutia

  • Ten years at Express Scripts’ Specialty Pharmacy CuraScript
    • • Successfully led company’s strategic efforts to increase efficiency and accuracy in reimbursement risk mitigation
    • • Managed a broad scope of key operational activities including strategy formulation, performance metric development, technique implementation, and policy and procedure development
  • Responsible for organizational infrastructure support, staff development, and retention while focusing on consistently delivering quality customer service vital to sustaining and growing accounts
  • Developed and directed staff in broad range of reimbursement operation functions
  • Career in healthcare began by leading a team disease-specific insurance benefit verification specialists working closely with top pharmaceutical clients

Holly Faries Dir., Training & Development

Holly Faries has over thirty years of experience in the fields of sociology and psychology, She has held a variety of positions in universities, private industry and pharmaceutical distributing corporations. Her expertise lies in leadership development, sales training, customer service, needs assessment and analysis.

Prior to Joining BioSolutia

  • Ms. Faries most recently served as Quality Assurance/Training Manager at CuraScript Specialty Distribution, a division of Express Scripts, one of the nation’s leading pharmacy benefit managers
    • • Responsible for the training and quality performance for approximately 200 employees located across the United States
  • Past president of the Central Florida Chapter of the International Customer Service Association and also serves as the Training Coordinator for the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office
  • Throughout her career as both a consultant and part-time professor at several local colleges, she has worked with many Central Florida companies, including NASA, Fiserv, Convergys, Siemens, and Mitsubishi
